The Community Kitchen
The Community Kitchen brings SCOOP members together to share knowledge, learn new skills and get to know one another. We host the Jersey Bread Baking Enthusiasts and hope to form a group interested in fermentation, pickling and preserves over the coming year. Our Community Cultures Initiative helps people get started with home fermentation by sharing live cultures, including sourdough starters, kefir grains, ginger bugs, vinegar mothers and kombucha scobies. Regular Dinner Clubs introduce local growers, activists and members of staff to the community.
Jersey Bread Baking Enthusiasts
The Jersey Bread Baking Enthusiasts meet once a month at SCOOP, to share experiences and home baked breads. Group baking sessions and workshops are planned for the future. If you would like to join this group please let us know.
Get involved!Jersey Herb Circle
The Jersey Herb Circle at SCOOP will be led by Sally Roberts, a local expert and herb guide at Samares Manor. The group will meet monthly in 2021 to explore the potential of cultivated and foraged culinary herbs and manage the herb garden that will be planted in front of the shop. The herb garden will act as an educational and practical resource for SCOOP SCHOOL and the Production Kitchen. Please let us know if you would like to join the group.
Get involved!Fermentation Club
The new Fermentation Club aims to bring together local enthusiasts to share knowledge and experiences in the rich and diverse tradition of fermentation. We welcome fermenters of all kinds! Please let us know if you would like to join and bring some of your ferments with you. The Fermentation Club will also consider the best way to develop the Community Cultures Initiative that shares live cultures, including sourdough starters, kefir grains, ginger bugs, vinegar mothers and kombucha scobies.
